COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE

Whitehaven is...

Committed to being carbon certified by the Toitū Envirocare Carbon Programme, against the ISO 14064-3 standard, by 2024.

Working towards being carbon neutral by 2025 by:

  • Undertaking a full carbon reduction plan via initiatives such as shifting to lighter weight glass, recycling irrigation drip line, soft plastics, office and food scraps, and grape marc. We are also transitioning to more efficient tractors to reduce our diesel use, reducing high energy activities, and where this is not possible, conducting these activities at off-peak times.
  • In the interim, we will make up any shortfall in the carbon reduction plan, by purchasing carbon credits sourced from New Zealand based projects.

✔ Planning towards producing 100% of our carbon offsets from company projects by 2030. This will be achieved by planting a native forest at The Springs development (The Springs, is a 720ha property where 600ha of hill country will be dedicated to native forest). Once established, this native forest will have the potential to sequester enough carbon annually to offset significantly more than Whitehaven’s carbon footprint.
