Vacancy – Experienced Vineyard Manager
We are looking for an experienced vineyard manager to manage our vineyards in the Lower Wairau region. This is a full-time permanent position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and managing all vineyard operations throughout the year to ensure that fruit maturity meets the winemakers’ requirements
- Leading, managing and developing the team through collaboration and inclusion.
- Managing spray and agrichemical programs
- Monitoring and assessing soil moisture levels and soil health
- Managing irrigation requirements in accordance with resource consents
- Monitoring and assessing pests and diseases, promptly addressing issues
- Organising and supervising third party vineyard contract labour for pruning and manual operations through the season
- Supervising the annual harvest
- Budget development and monitoring expenditure to ensure vineyard operations are within budget expectations.
Reporting to the Senior Vineyard Manager, the ideal candidate will be physically fit and have a love for working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will be competent in all aspects of vineyard management and operations and will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in vineyard and people management
- Strong leadership and people management skills with an emphasis on collaboration and inclusion
- Excellent interpersonal, team building and communications skills
- A strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing
- Strong organizational, time management and project management skills
- The ability to work flexible and long hours over harvest and frost seasons
- A full and clean drivers licence
