Vacancy – ASSISTANT WINEMAKER
About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position. The Assistant Winemaker will assist and support the winemaking team with:
· The development and execution of the winery’s production plan, ensuring efficient use of time, equipment, and resources, as required;
· Maintaining the highest standards of procedures throughout the cellar by developing and reviewing SOPs, winemaking protocols, sanitation monitoring and other assignments;
· The tasting, evaluation and critical assessment of wines, blends and ferments;
· Quality control, interpreting analysis and troubleshooting during all stages of production.
· Being an active member of the vintage team, which may include assisting with vintage recruitment, supervising or managing vintage shifts, ensuring production levels and processes are maintained to agreed quality standards;
· Supporting vintage operations, including planning and managing fruit intake, and cellar workflow;
· Assisting in fermentation management, including temperature control and nutrient management;
· Generating and updating job orders using the winery’s software;
· Maintaining production records and generating reports using the winery’s software, Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint;
· Collaborating closely with the winemakers to schedule and coordinate all winemaking activities including fermentations, rackings, blending, and bottling;
· Collaborating with the cellar winemaker and lab manager to ensure daily operations align with production goals and quality standards;
· Facilitating information flow between the cellar, lab, and winemaking team;
