With celebrating our 21st vintage, opening a state-of-the-art winery and winning a string of accolades at international wine shows, 2014 has been a big year for Whitehaven Wines.
Since starting out as a tiny producer in Marlborough in 1994, it’s been a lot of fun and a real privilege to be a part of the amazing New Zealand wine story.
For the past 10 years, the Whitehaven team had been making wine from a converted apple packing shed, so our lovely new winery with all its bells and whistles is a real treat for our hard working crew.
We kicked off the year with glowing reviews from Winestate across our range of wine styles, including 4.5 stars for our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013 and Marlborough Noble Riesling 2013 and 4 stars for our Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013 and Marlborough Riesling 2013.
Not long after that it was announced our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013 had outstripped its competition in the East Meets West Wine Challenge with a bunch of honours, including best in show Sauvignon Blanc and best in show white, and in August we celebrated a double gold win at the China Wine and Spirits Awards.
We were thrilled to pick up a pure gold at the Air New Zealand International Wine Awards for our 2014 Pinot Gris - one of only eight in its class to make the cut.
And, to top it all off, we’ve recently received 4.5 stars for our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and late harvest Riesling, and 4 stars for our 2012 Pinot Noir and 2013 Riesling from Michael Cooper.

We’ve also ramped up our digital footprint this year, and welcome you to join the conversation on Twitter and Facebook - we love hearing all about your Whitehaven Wine experiences!
While it’s been a year for reflection and celebration, we know there’s plenty of work ahead to ensure we continue to produce world-class wines and already looking forward to the 2015 vintage.
