With Summer just around the corner, we're all looking forward to the warmer evenings enjoyed with friends and family around great food with great wine.
This month, we're sharing a pairing for our 2021 Whitehaven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, a great wine for this time of year, with classic grapefruit and citrus flavours balanced with a fine, refreshing acidity.
Try a glass of our 2021 Whitehaven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and some Marlborough steamed mussels with garlic and lemon - a fantastic match to celebrate Marlborough wine and Marlborough produce this Summer.
Steamed Mussels with Garlic and Lemon
In a large frypan, sizzle crushed garlic and red chilli flakes in a little hot oil. Once fragrant, add your fresh Marlborough mussels and give them a good stir to coat the mussels in the oil. Cover with boiling water and cover, cooking for 6-8 minutes until the mussels have opened up.
Squeeze in lemon juice and chopped parsley, stir and place onto a serving bowl with some of the leftover broth. Be sure to discard any unopened mussels.
Serve with wedges of lemon and a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
