Whitehaven Wine Company Limited has had its fair share of successes in the first part of 2018 with two of its Sauvignon Blanc being awarded Champion Sauvignon Blanc of Show, at two different competitions.

At an awards night held at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland on 3rd March, Whitehaven’s Sauvignon Blanc 2017 was named the Royal Easter Show 2018 Champion Sauvignon Blanc of Show. This, following on from the company’s ‘Greg’ single vineyard Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc being awarded Champion Sauvignon Blanc at the 2017 New Zealand International Wine Show late last year.

Sue White says the top accolades for the company’s two Sauvignon Blanc is recognition of the company’s uncompromising focus on quality. “To be awarded accolades of this calibre is testament to the uncompromising focus that goes into producing our Sauvignon Blanc. We are thrilled to be have been awarded double Champion Sauvignon Blanc awards for our two Sauvignon Blanc, it is an outstanding achievement which we are extremely proud of”.

All grapes for Whitehaven’s Sauvignon Blanc are grown in Marlborough. The Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc is a classical style of Sauvignon taking advantage of Whitehaven’s multi-sub regional approach, which allows the company to select the best fruit from each of Marlborough’s three sub regions. The Whitehaven ‘Greg Sauvignon Blanc is from the company’s premium range of single vineyard wines. Fruit for the ‘Greg’ Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Awatere Valley and gives this wine its classic Awatere flavours.
