"This 2016 pinot is great value. It is better structured than recent vintages and is made from an equal mix of fruit from the Awatere Valley and the Southern Valleys of the Wairau Valley. After harvest it spent 5 days in cold soak at 9°C before fermentation at 30°C. 30% was matured for 10 months in oak barriques. Expect a fruity nose of raspberry and cherry fruit with forest floor accent and hints of tobacco and mild oak spice. It is midweight and juicy with fine balancing acidity and mild tannin. Very good to excellent length with the fruit persisting well on the lingering finish. Tasted February 2020." 90/100 Points, Steve Thurlow, WineAlign, Canada
